Placemaking is a collection of wall mounted shelves, fixtures, small objects, furniture, self made woodworking jigs, and a bicycle customized and retrofitted for work at Franconia Sculpture Park. Placemaking was shown at "Thursday Service" at Franconia in the City @ Casket in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 1st, 2017.
Placemaking was made during my time as an intern artist at Franconia Sculpture Park in Shafer, MN. It is a material representation of my drive across the United States to the sculpture park and the assimilation process once I arrived. I wanted it to be representative of the artistic process. It also embodies a search for personal power and place in an unfamiliar environment with an established structure. My power was represented by material ownership and takeover of space.
